INTRODUCE BENDA V4 ENGINE APPLIED IN DARK FLAG 500 SERIES: OUR BELIEF IN DELIVERING PURE CRUISER RIDING EXPERIENCE

Benda believes that the V-engine represents the true essence of cruising and remains committed to the independent research, development, and innovation of V-engines. Among Benda’s breakthroughs, the V4 engine stands as a milestone in the company’s progress. Dark Flag 500 series marks the first V4 cruiser motorcycle developed by a Chinese motorcycle brand. So, what makes Benda’s V4 engine so remarkable? Let’s explore its features.

The Origins of the V4-Engine

A V4 engine is a four-cylinder piston engine where the cylinders are arranged in a “V” configuration. The V4 engine was originally used in aircraft manufacturing and was not applied to motorcycles until the 20th century. The first V4 motorcycle was the British-made Matchless Silver Hawk, which debuted in the 1930s and featured a 16-degree V4 engine.

Later, Japanese manufacturers and others adopted in-line engines for motorcycles, often to achieve better fuel efficiency. While in-line engines deliver excellent performance in the mid-range torque, the V4 engine excels in low-end torque, offers a lower center of gravity, and produces a distinctive, smooth exhaust note. This characteristic sound, reminiscent of a horse’s gallop, perfectly complements the vintage, powerful design of cruiser motorcycles.

Benda’s Independent Development of the V4 Engine

V4 engines are generally used in large-displacement motorcycles, with fewer applications in smaller-displacement categories. Benda aims to bring the cruiser experience to a wider audience, allowing riders unfamiliar with cruisers to enjoy the thrill of riding one. Benda is pioneering the use of V4 engines in mid- and small-displacement models, establishing itself as one of the leading motorcycle manufacturers in the development of small-displacement V4 engines.

Benda’s V4 engine features a 60-degree V-angle, making it more compact and suitable for use in motorcycles. This smaller V-angle helps maintain a forward center of gravity, making the ride more stable. However, smaller angles and compact engine sizes can lead to tighter internal spaces, where the crankshaft and connecting rods may risk interference, thus demanding higher precision in manufacturing. Benda has successfully overcome these technical challenges, creating the star product of Dark Flag 500 series.

What Supporting Technologies Does Benda Use for the V4 Engine?

Benda was the first Chinese brand to implement TCS (Traction Control System) and slipper clutch technology in cruisers. The TCS system significantly enhances riding safety, while the slipper clutch provides smoother gear shifts and better control, reducing drag during shifting and enhancing the overall riding experience. In addition, Benda integrates electronic throttle control and idle shutdown technology to reduce engine heat and improve efficiency.

Benda’s Commitment to Advanced Technology and Performance

Benda’s approach to product development and technology is guided by our core values of Genuine, Frontier, and Uncompromised. We are committed to embracing cutting-edge technology and are passionate about delivering the purest cruiser motorcycle riding experience. Our goal is to make riding safer and easier, empowering even beginners, who may find motorcycling intimidating, to confidently enjoy the thrill of riding.
